Frequently Asked Questions

What is Funky Footwear Day?

We’re asking everyone to take a big step forward for Mencap by wearing funky footwear and donate to Mencap in Northern Ireland.

So, dig out your groovy socks and lace up your ridiculous loafers and raise much needed funds for children and adults with a learning disability in northern ireland! Why not customise your clogs, sequin your socks, bejewel your brogues and glitter your gutties to get in the festive spirit. All we’re asking is that you put your best fundraising foot forward for children and young people with a learning disability and their families!

When is it?

That’s the great thing about Funky Footwear Day, it can be anytime throughout the year. Just pick a day that suits your classmates, chums, or work colleagues. We know sometimes people don’t need an excuse, but what better way of flaunting your festive fashionista footwear than through helping children with a learning disability?

Who can take part?

Everyone! We want everyone to take a big step in the office, at school, in your local community or even in your own living room! So get your workplace, school, friends and family involved and help us raise as much as we can to help transform children’s lives.

Do I need to be in a group?

Quite simply – no! Funky Footwear Day is for everyone – individuals and groups. If you decide to go solo you can still have loads of fun, just make sure you tell everyone you meet why you’re wearing funky footwear – and be sure that you ask them to make a donation.
